Zelina Vega is Ahead of the Game

Thea Megan Trinidad Budgen, known by her ring name Zelina Vega, is a WWE superstar and Twitch streamer. She was recently released from the WWE that resulted with her getting emotional during her live stream on Twitch, thanking everyone for supporting her for her career on streaming, despite the WWE’s controversial third-party issue.

As Wrestling Inc. exclusively reported in September, WWE has moved forward with taking control of all third party accounts like Twitch and Cameo that use WWE Superstars’ names and likenesses, resulting in some WWE superstars to take down their own Twitch channel. Zelina Vega took to Twitter to voice her support towards unionization 10 minutes before WWE posted about her departure from the company. She returned to her Twitch channel and was overwhelmed with the amount of support. Furthermore, there have been reports that Zelina Vega made more money on Twitch than her WWE contract.

David Allen Meltzer, an American journalist and sports historian who reports on professional wrestling and mixed martial arts reported on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio stating that; “On her Twitch she’s making a lot of money and so it’s like what do you do in that situation and I think she made her choice and they had to fire her and then right before it got out that she was fired she made a tweet about how she supports unionization which she has said before. I mean it’s not like that’s the first time she said that and that did play into some of it and now”.
