xQc Promotes Gambling Sponsors

Despite concerns about the impact on himself and others, Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel revealed why he’s pushing gambling sponsors on Twitch again, arguing that viewers only “choose and choose” when it’s an issue.

After admitting he was “slightly, if not moderately addicted” to gambling and understanding how many impressionable viewers he was exposing to it, xQc stopped promoting gambling sponsors on Twitch in June 2021. On May 16, 2022, however, it changed. The Twitch star spent a portion of his most recent stream playing slots, much to the chagrin of several viewers who criticized him for shifting his attitude just weeks after revealing his gambling “addiction” not once, but twice.

He stated the rationale for his decision after being questioned about it. xQc claims he was weary of viewers “picking and choosing” who they called out for running sponsored gambling streams, so he turned the switch off.

xQc remarked, likely referring to earlier anger over his sponsored gambling streams on Twitch; “Everybody threw us all under the bus when the chips were down, and everybody turned on us. Everyone was a bunch of b*tches. But when some other streamers [decided to do sponsored gambling streams again], everybody flipped and said, ‘oh dude, if I had that much money, I would do it too! I respect this guy!’”

It’s not clear to whom xQc is referring. He believes that viewers do not treat him the same way.  He said; “People are selectively choosing who they back up when, if your real motive is behind morals and ethics, you can’t pick and choose.”

As a result, he has chosen to resume sponsoring gaming streams. “I started malding seeing people pick this and choose that, and you know what, at the end of the day, I was like, I love gambling, so I’m just going to gamble.”

xQc’s decision generated a new debate regarding the subject not long after.
