xQc Comments On Twitch Banning Gambling

On April 30, 2023, Twitch celebrity Felix “xQc” expressed his discontent with the platform’s decision to restrict gambling-related content during a broadcast.

Fans asked him to open boxes in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which is when the interaction started. Felix retaliated against people who wanted him to unlock loot boxes in the tactical shooter but were in favor of outlawing gambling-related content. Following some discussion with his viewers, xQc clarified that he wasn’t being “negative” and that it was against the law for him to gamble on his livestream. He said that the content was at least as large as previously and questioned where the “anti-gambling energy” was: “Bruh, where has been the anti-gamba energy? Where has it been at? There’s been none of it! Actually zero! Nobody cares. And gamba is as big, if not bigger it is now. Legitimately! It actually is!”

When xQc noticed that his community was begging him to bet and open treasure boxes in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive earlier today, he was trying to put up a fresh Minecraft speedrun. He answered: “‘Do some gamba.’ Yeah, gamba on what? Bro, you’re not going to f**king advocate to f**king ban gamba s**t and then glaze all over f**king CS: GO gamba s**t. It’s just not going to happen, man. Not happening!”

The former Overwatch pro responded to viewers who claimed that gambling in real life was not comparable to opening cases in a multiplayer game. As a result, he gave the moderators of his channel the order to permanently remove Twitch chatters. Added him: “‘Who’s being negative now?’ What the f**k are you talking about? I’m just saying, we’re not doing gamba because it’s banned! People want to get them banned. Well, I mean, what can I do about it, man?”

A short while later, xQc asserted that gambling-related material was “larger than before,” even though the platform, which is owned by Amazon, forbade content producers from placing bets on sites including Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet. He continued by saying that because the “big villains” weren’t acting, “nobody cared” about the situation: “Gamba right now is as big as it was before, but nobody cares. It’s not the big villains doing it. That’s why. I mean, I don’t get it. Where is the anti-gamba energy? All they did is just find other sites with other names. The impact is the same. Literally.”
