xQc Changed His Name

The Overwatch franchise owes a lot to Felix “xQc” Lengyel for providing him with the platform to become a successful esports professional before dominating Twitch. He’s always had an affinity for sci-fi shooters, but he’s now utilized his Twitch handle to distance himself from his esports past.

When speaking out loud, xQc is only known by his three-letter alias, and few people will add OW to the end. Since joining Twitch in 2016, the Canadian content creator has gone by the handle “xQcOW,” with the last two letters standing for the game from which he originated. However, as Overwatch draws its final breath, xQc has moved on, and despite the possibility of a sequel, he has removed OW from his Twitch name.

With xQc making game-breaking plays from the start, Lengyel still has significant ties to Overwatch. He was nearly single-handedly responsible for the sequel shattering Twitch audience records during the Beta phase. Apart from those who have the streamers’ old tag saved, the name change matters nothing in the long run. With the OW added, searching for the channel via URL will no longer work, albeit removing it won’t take long.

In recent years, xQc has evolved into a variety streamer, and the exclusion of OW may help him appear more well-rounded, rather than carrying Overwatch around like an anchor. xQc has recently followed in the footsteps of Tyler “Trainwrecks” Niknam by participating in long gambling streams, though he can also be spotted playing games like VALORANT, Hades, and Clash Royale.
