Twitch Streamers Demand Additional Sub Revenue

Twitch streamers who are dissatisfied with the platform’s lower subscription revenue than other services are demanding major improvements.

YouTube and Facebook Gaming are attempting to gain traction and steal some of Twitch’s top talent as the streaming wars heat up. While YouTube has done so by outright acquiring prominent streamers like TimTheTatman and Dr Lupo, Facebook has started paying its streamers a 100% income cut for subscriptions.

Because of this, Twitch streamers now want the Amazon-owned service to step up and start giving content creators a better cut than the 50 percent they now earn. On November 3rd, a tweet from full-time streamer DEZirableGamer went viral, urging Twitch to make some significant changes.

She wrote; “Only making 50% revenue from subs for those that barely make enough for a payout let alone full-time streamers trying to pay bills is CRAZY. It’s time for a change.”

She went on to say that while Twitch does not “owe” streamers extra money, she believes that the hard work she and others have put in merits a raise.

In the comments, some suggested that she take her talents to Facebook or YouTube for a better split, while others supported her.

It’s unclear whether Twitch has any intentions to enhance streamers’ sub income, but anything is possible if YouTube and Facebook keep up the pressure.
