Twitch Speedrunner Freaks Out

Kanno is a Japanese twitch streamer who commonly plays or streams the game Super Mario 64 on his twitch channel. He has recently been trying to beat Super Mario 64 with zero stars. There are four main categories on Super Mario 64 and it was 120 stars, 70 stars, 16 stars, 1 star and 0 stars.

For many, reaching the record of zero stars can be incredibly complicated, but then it was discovered that by jumping at just the right angle with complex controller inputs, it’s possible for Mario to access areas in the game that otherwise wouldn’t be available. During one of Twitch streamer Kanno’s live broadcasts, he reached the 1st spot of the Zero star category. During his stream, he tried to beat the record for over 20,471 times and then finally, he beat the record with an incredible time of 6m 31s 520ms.

At first, he was unsure that he would get it as he stated; “Maybe not the world record, sorry”, but when the big star appeared, his eyes lit up with glee and he exclaimed; “Yo, what?! World record! Thank you so much!” Kanno beat the record of Dowsky who now sits in the second spot with the record time of 6m 32s 150ms. With Kanno now holding the record, he promised to lower the record time even further in future games.
