Twitch New Policy

According to Zach Bussey’s report, Twitch is testing big modifications to its mature content tag. Twitch has not verified these changes, but if they are accepted, broadcasters on the platform may be able to stream potentially sexually suggestive video without fear of repercussions if they follow the forthcoming restrictions.

Twitch has had a mature tag for a long time, which restricts certain streams based on their age. In its current condition, the mature tag is wholly optional, unenforced, and utilized by a small number of streamers. This proposed new mature classification would have stricter policing, but it could provide streamers more leeway to transmit suggestive content.

This new regulation, according to Bussey, would essentially create a ‘after dark’ category that would still be strictly restricted by many of Twitch’s present sexual content rules. Masturbation, sex, or content insinuating either of these things would still be prohibited on steamers in this mature category.

Twitch acknowledges that while certain content does not strictly violate any of our standings rules, it may not be appropriate for all potential viewers under these guidelines. Under this planned modification, the streaming platform has defined which sorts of video will require a mature tag:

  • Sexual health education content
  • Discussions of sexual topics or experiences
  • Performing fetish content (body writing, feet webcams)
  • Groping of one’s own body
  • Prolonged kissing targeted at the camera
  • Facial expressions associated with sexual arousal
  • Sexually explicit camera framing
  • Suggestive dancing, including lap and pole dances
  • Sexually explicit art
  • Channel text, titles, or overlays with sexual content
  • Content encouraging mature conversations in chat

Streams marked as containing mature content would be less discoverable by Twitch viewers, albeit this is unproven. Because the website is currently receiving user comments, Twitch has yet to issue an official update or announcement regarding this likely content update.
