Twitch Is Withholding Payments

Twitch bans are common in the community for a variety of reasons, but one streamer has been on the receiving end of Twitch’s harsh regulations, which has resulted in financial difficulties.

Many users find it difficult to get to the point where Twitch streaming is a viable career option, but there are plenty who sign up to give it a shot. To become a Twitch partner, which unlocks the subscriber button, you must first complete a series of tasks, including building a loyal community of viewers who check-in and interact with the stream.

Streamers’ income is made up of subscriptions and donations, and while it can be quite lucrative, some streamers have had problems with Twitch withholding payments. A small streamer with around 4,000 followers on Twitter named Sohba, revealed that the streaming platform has refused to release funds she has earned.

She said that perhaps she can’t get their attention because she’s not a big streamer but what is happening to her is interfering with small streamers’ livelihood and added, noting that other small streamers have had similar experiences.

Sohba isn’t happy with the automated responses she’s been getting or having to go around in circles with Twitch support, despite the platform confirming an investigation is underway to resolve the issue saying that there are people who may be in desperate need of money and that the streaming platform should take this much more seriously than automated responses when it comes to money and urge them to hire more staff.

Fans and other content creators have joined her in calling Twitch for an explanation of the situation saying that it is completely unacceptable and some say that they despise how unhelpful and out of touch Twitch has become in their relationship with their creators. Some fans have been far more blunt in their criticisms saying that Twitch seems to hire only useless people and that their help is second to none.

Twitch has yet to provide Sohba with a more direct response to the situation.
