On the morning of April 3, Twitch banned hip-hop personality DJ Akademiks. This is the third banned from the site for the presenter of the Off the Record podcast. Little is known at this time about Akademik’s suspension.

At the time this article was written, neither the cause of the prohibition nor its length had been made public. Additionally, there isn’t a recent incident that is obvious and could have led to a suspension for him. The social media star has not yet made any public remarks regarding the ban from Twitch. Akademiks is a popular YouTuber, Twitch streamer, and podcast presenter who gained notoriety for his reporting and analysis of news pertaining to the hip-hop musical subgenre. On YouTube, he has over 2.7 million users, and on Twitch, he has almost 500,000 fans.

On April 3, the contentious media figure got a ban on his Twitch channel, marking his third suspension from the service. In 2020, he received one of his earlier suspensions from Twitch after launching a string of tirades against a number of well-known people, including Drake, Meek Mill, Freddy Gibbs, John Legend, and Chrissy Teigen. It’s thought that his discriminatory comments about Teigan were the reason he was expelled from Twitch in that case. His suspension from Complex, the media outlet that ran his former morning program “Everyday Struggle,” was also a result of these remarks.

There is presently not much information available about his most recent ban. The ban’s duration is presently unknown, and no specific justification has been given as of the time of writing. Until now, DJ Akademiks has not addressed the prohibition in the media. Some followers believed that DJ Akademiks was barred because he had livestreamed the previous night’s Dreamville Music Festival. Other viewers immediately pointed out that Dreamville has a deal with Twitch’s parent company, Amazon, even though livestreaming a hip-hop music festival without authorization would undoubtedly result in suspension. It is doubtful that only Akademiks would be banned because many streamers broadcast the music festival live.

Another hypothesis concerned a news item he reported on his stream about a man who shot and killed intruders in his home out of self-defense. He provided a photo that had been snapped on the scene and showed that the floors were still covered in blood. The Twitch Terms of Service would also be broken in this case. Whatever the reason, DJ Akademiks has been temporarily suspended from the broadcasting service and should be able to resume livestreaming soon.
