TheQuartering Takes Pokimane To Court

According to YouTuber ‘TheQuartering,’ he is bringing popular Twitch streamer ‘Pokimane’ to court after her legal team asked her to remove specific videos he produced about her.

Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys is one of Twitch’s most popular female broadcasters and one of the site’s most popular female streamers in general. After becoming the target of a hate attack by fellow streamer Jidion, Anys has recently been under fire on social media. Jidion appears to have more trouble in store for him after the hoopla surrounding the hate raid, which resulted in a permanent Twitch ban for the star.

‘TheQuartering’, a YouTuber, declared on Twitter on January 31, 2021, that he will sue Pokimane. He claimed that he’d gotten an email from Pokimane’s brand management firm, Corsearch, in a subsequent tweet. Due to “Infringing Content” and “Copyrighted Content,” these reps demanded that TheQuartering erase two of his videos. In other words, it appears like Pokimane’s brand management has asked TheQuartering to remove two videos that include Anys content.

Corsearch has been accused of “bullying” other content creators, according to TheQuartering, who says his videos are well within the rules of Fair Use. He further pointed out that this alert came from a third-party source rather than from YouTube itself. He described the issue as “essentially, anything that makes a creator look bad, they’ll bully and bend the law, in my opinion, to get people to remove that content.”

He stated, “They’re going around, and they’re going to get her in trouble legally. These videos from years ago — you’re bringing them back up to the surface now. Why? This is a pretty big oopsie, and I highly recommend she call off her dogs because what they’re doing is obviously not above board.”

This isn’t the first time Pokimane has been accused of infringing on the rights of another creator’s work by alleging that they were copied. After copying videos from YouTuber Bowblax in late 2018, Anys got called out doing the same thing by none other than PewDiePie in early 2019.

Anys indicated in her response to PewDiePie that she will “take down videos when it’s a pure reupload of my stream, and when it’s such a disgusting and misleading title” in her statement.

On February 2, TheQuartering offered fans an update on the situation, stating that he had received a new email from Pokimane’s reps. The YouTuber apologised for the commotion in the email, which noted that their initial takedown notice was made “in error.”

On his affected videos, the reps also claimed to have erased “any previous reinforcement.” The Quartering called out the company for their “grade-A, bull doo” response, arguing, “Who knows how many creators took down their videos and didn’t have a platform big enough to say anything about it? I know that 90% of this crap is just bullying,” he added. “…They may have done this to thousands of other creators and videos over the years.”

At the time of writing, Pokimane had not yet commented to TheQuartering or made any public acknowledgment of the matter – just days after she declared the end of her Twitch exclusive contract.
