The Gaming4Life $50,000 Charity Drive

An annual charity live stream series called GAMING4LIFE runs from November 1 to November 30 this year of 2021. The proceeds from this drive will benefit the Sony Foundation’s ‘You Can Stay’ program, which helps young cancer patients from rural areas travel to city hospitals for treatment by providing a place to stay for the duration of their stay.

The said goal is to raise a donation of $50,000 so that 500 one-night stays at a Quest serviced apartment near each patient’s hospital can be provided. Given the physical and financial costs of traveling so far for treatment, not having to worry about lodging would be a huge relief for families who are already struggling.

The charity drive consists of a month of live streams hosted by popular content creators and Twitch streamers from Australia. Throughout the month, viewers will see familiar names like MaxiGeek, HolmesinFive, and StormyPlays. For direct donations, each streamer will have their own Tiltify link. The complete schedule can be found here.

You can also make a donation by purchasing a raffle ticket from the Sony Foundation’s Bid2Give website. The following are some of the prizes up for grabs:

  • Tony Hawk’s signature on a skateboard
  • A limited edition Gran Turismo Sport PlayStation 4 console autographed by the game’s creators.Kazunori Yamauchi, Polyphony Digital
  • A private one-on-one coaching session with any ORDER esports player from their League of Legends, FIFA, Valorant, or CSGO teams.

Sony Foundation CEO Sophie Ryan said that their said program is a regional youth cancer patients and their families lifeline, especially during this time of the pandemic to ensure they can access cancer treatment in the city in their safe surrounding and said that they are incredibly and truly grateful to all the Australian content creators and streamers who are willing to donate their time and energy to help raise funds so that they can keep the families together and alleviate the financial and emotional stress that comes with having to travel far away for cancer treatment.

Streamers and content creators who sign up for Gaming4Life at Fortress Melbourne will be able to broadcast their stream for the entire month for free (when the site reopens on November 5). Fortress Melbourne’s streams will be broadcast on the official Fortress Melbourne Twitch channel.

Alternatively, if you’re just a deadset legend looking to donate, you can do so right here. Any donation of $20 or more automatically enters you into a drawing for a PlayStation 5 console.
