Guy Beahm aka DrDisRespect’s mysterious ban from Twitch has been quite a controversy up until now. This is one of the reasons that the platform might lose its popularity. The platform recently removed the content of multiple streamers. Some are not even on the platform anymore, receiving no warning just like DrDisRespect, who claimed that he didn’t know the reason for his ban.

Some have been citing DCMA issues. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act or DCMA is a 1998 United States copyright law that implements two 1996 treaties of the World Intellectual Property Organization. It criminalizes production and dissemination of technology, devices, or services intended to circumvent measures that control access to copyrighted works.

The Twitch platform recently received complaints about copyright issues because of the music that the streamers have been playing while live broadcasting especially the music from 2017 up to 2019. Twitch recently stated that they will take these issues seriously from now on. The DCMA issue quickly began trending on Twitter. Furthermore, DrDisRespect joined the fiasco and tweeted out about the link of his fan made song with the title VHS Glitch. He tweeted out on twitter; “Play anywhere, on any platform…… strike free”.
