The Bob Ross YouTube Channel

The Bob Ross Youtube Channel has recently reached 5 million subscribers, according to Janson Media and Bob Ross, Inc. The channel has seen steady year-over-year growth in both subscribers and viewership around the world thanks to its YouTube strategy and channels management team, as well as the addition of original content.

A native of Orlando Bob Ross based in Florida, died in 1995 and has since become a cult figure for people of all ages all over the world. His first show, Joy of Painting, premiered in 1982 and is widely regarded as the most popular art show of all time. Millions of viewers agree that his calm, nurturing demeanor and soothing voice are therapeutic, and his respect for nature and wildlife has contributed to environmental awareness.

Jesse Janson, Janson Media’s Vice-President of Acquisitions & Development is largely responsible for Bob Ross’s emergence as a modern-day cultural icon. Janson negotiated the digital rights to the classic television series The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross, an American public television show that became the most watched painting program on the planet, in 2014.

Janson Media collaborated with Bob Ross, Inc., the intellectual property owners, to create a distribution campaign that reintroduced Bob Ross to the world, distributing the content on nearly every major digital video platform, including Twitch, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Calm, and others.

The Bob Ross Youtube Channel, designed and managed by Janson Media, is at the heart of this campaign. Keeping the Bob Ross Dream Alive, a series of one-hour videos featuring Bob Ross-certified painter and instructor Nicholas Hankins, was recently produced and premiered on the channel by Janson Media.

Viewers can follow Nic as he demonstrates Bob Ross’ famous wet-on-wet painting technique. Nic’s instructions maintain a harmonious balance between joy and painting, from happy clouds to mighty mountains. Viewers are encouraged to pick up their paintbrushes and paint along with Nic’s soothing lessons, just as they were with the original Bob Ross videos.

Janson enlisted Twitch as an early partner in the distribution campaign in 2015, launching a linear “live” channel with over 2 million followers that is available globally. Every year in October, the channel hosts a 10-day marathon of all 403 half-hour episodes of The Joy of Painting to commemorate Bob’s birthday. This joyous celebration on Twitch will be held for the 7th year in a row on October 29, 2021.

The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross is also available on Amazon Prime Video, where it serves as a central hub for a large selection of officially licensed Bob Ross merchandise, much of which is available for purchase on Amazon. The original television series is still broadcast on many public television stations across the United States, and it is also broadcast in Germany and South Korea.
