The Biggest News In Video Games

This week has been a roller coaster. Everything from an exciting new Animal Crossing update to infamous Twitch streamer Amouranth evading a permanent suspension and being reinstated this week following her first ban is covered in this round-up.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf Is Getting Its Final Update, And It’s a Big One

More hairstyles, DLC, Brewster… as well as Froggy Chair. Yes, the November Animal Crossing update has everything. Which makes sense, given that it turns out to be the final one. The free version 2.0 patch includes, among other things, outside storage, the ability to push furniture closer together, and, of course, the cafe, which fans have been requesting since the game’s launch. There were even surprises for its fans, like group exercises with your islanders and a full-fledged paid DLC. Happy Home Paradise, an add-on inspired by the 3DS game Happy Home Designer, will be released on the same day as the said update.

NFTs are no longer available on Steam.

First, they were squandering thousands of dollars on dreadful JPEGs. They can’t even use those dreadful JPEGs in bad Steam games anymore. This week, Valve released new guidelines that expressly prohibit the use of NFTs and cryptocurrencies in any game on its platform. This means that the game Age of Rust will be removed because it violated the company’s rule prohibiting the inclusion of “items with a real-world value on their platform.” With this sad news, as well as recent reports of NFT scams, it hasn’t been a happy time for glorified Sonic OC collectors.

Amouranth Unbanned for the fifth time on Twitch.

Popular Twitch streamer Amouranth is no stranger to bans and suspensions, but for some reason, almost every site tried to take her down this time. It didn’t take Amouranth long to get around the Twitch suspension, as she was back on the platform in just three days. Her suspension was never explained by the service, but given her role in the so-called “fart meta” earlier this year, it’s not surprising.

Squid Game Crossovers Can Be Found Almost Anywhere

Allow me to be the billionth person to recommend Squid Game to you. Have you already seen it? Good, now go ahead and annoy everyone else into doing it as well. This week, it seems like the entire world has been focused on the Squid Game. As a result, it’s unsurprising that it’s made its way into gaming. Only this week, we learned that the first round of the show, Red Light, Green Light, will be broadcast on Black Desert Online. Then, to no one’s surprise, Netflix confirmed that a Squid Game video game (let’s hope the title is a little more catchy than that) is in the works.

ResetEra was purchased by MOBA Network for $4.55 million.

MOBA Network surprised many when it announced the acquisition of ResetEra, a message board website, earlier this week. The website’s price tag was a whopping $4.55 million. MOBA Network must have liked something about the site because, in addition to paying a lot of money for it, it isn’t going to make any major changes to the way it is run. In other words, users can go about their business as usual. MOBA is playing the long game in terms of recouping its investment, having made $700,000 last year.

Someone may have placed a $5 million pre-order for a game.

Pre-order bonuses can be ridiculous at times, but this one for World War 3 is by far the best. According to the official website, the President Pack… which costs $5 million… has been purchased. No one has admitted to making the purchase, so it could be a publicity stunt. If this is true, however, this person has landed a role in a future World War 3 film and even has the ability to design a map for the game.
