Super Smash Bros. Tease

Fans of the Nintendo series, particularly those who adore Super Smash Bros. Melee, are excited over a new Super Smash Bros. tease. Despite its age, Super Smash Bros. Melee is still one of the most popular fighting games in the world, with a thriving competitive scene and a dedicated fanbase. Despite this, the world’s most popular fighting game tournament EVO, has given it the cold shoulder and it has a new owner in the form of Sony and RTS, which is good news for fans of the game.

A popular Twitch streamer Imane Anys AKA Pokimane is one of the co-founders of RTS and its current CCO, which means she’s now one of the co-owners of EVO. While we’ve known for a while that Sony and RTS had bought EVO, we didn’t know until this week that Pokimane was in charge of the latter.

To that end, Pokimane addressed the fighting game community during a recent stream, and seemed to imply that she’s planning to bring Super Smash Bros. Melee back to EVO, a show it hasn’t been a part of since 2018, despite high demand.

Pokimane expressed her gratitude for the fighting game community and how welcoming it has been during the stream, noting that she believes the community has been ignored and neglected for years.

Super Smash Bros. Melee came up during a discussion about the fighting game community and EVO, and Pokimane mentioned that she’d taken note of the demand to see the game brought back to the event.

For the time being, it’s unclear whether Pokimane, RTS, or Sony will follow through on this subtle hint, but for now, it’s enough to get fans of the series excited.
