Super Mario World Played With Voice Commands

Recently, twitch streamer Juzcook played the game Super Mario World in an incredibly unique way. Super Mario World is a 1990 platform game developed by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The story follows Mario’s quest to save Princess Peach and Dinosaur Land from the series’ antagonist Bowser and his minions, the Koopalings.

During the stream while he was playing the Super Mario World he completed a level of the game with just using voice commands. He voices out commands such as “run right,” “jump,” “jump high right,” and so on. Each movement was exact and precise, especially given the fact that the level had a plethora of pitfalls in which Mario could fall to his death. The last sixty seconds of the level was very tense as Juzcook took his time with slow and calculated movements and when the timer started to trickle down and it looked like that he was running out of time, Juzcook voiced out a final “jump,” “freeze,” “run right,” followed by silence as he watched Mario sprint to the finish and make it to the end with only 2 seconds left.

He went on to upload the clip of the game to his twitter account and it instantly went viral with many commenting that this type of accomplishment shows a good premise for accessibility in video games.
