Roblox & NMPA Agreement

Roblox has settled a copyright dispute with the National Music Publishers’ Association in the United States (NMPA).

The two announced their agreement in a post on the latter’s website, claiming that it “expands Roblox’s existing relationships” with the music industry. Roblox had previously been accused by the NMPA of violating music copyright, which the games platform had denied.

The Vice President of Roblox and Global Head of Music stated that they are ecstatic to have reached agreements with a number of NMPA members, building on our existing relationships with major publishers.

He added “We’re excited that the publishing industry recognizes Roblox’s potential as a significant creative and commercial opportunity for its members. People use music to express themselves, be entertained, and connect with others who share their interests. Labels and publishers can now reach millions of fans at once in hyper social, immersive environments like launch parties and virtual concerts thanks to Roblox.”
