Pokimane’s Suggestion About React Meta

Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys has urged Twitch to fully embrace the controversial “react meta” by forming partnerships with production companies that will allow star streamers to view full-length movies and TV episodes live.

Instead of wanting the controversial ‘react meta’ that has recently seized the platform by storm to disappear, the prominent Twitch star has taken the opposite approach, urging Amazon to embrace it. Pokimane would want to see Twitch establish partnerships with companies such as Walt Disney, Universal, Warner Bros., and others, with these partnerships allowing streamers to broadcast movies to their legions of viewers without fear of DMCA repercussions.

She remarked; “That would be the dream, big collabs,” According to Pokimane, the ‘react meta’ might be the site’s future, especially if Twitch can pull off the big-money collaborations she describes. She stated; “I really do hope Twitch can do that, someday and I hope publishers and livestreamers can collaborate to the extent that they allow us to share the experience of watching full-length movies, TV shows, with viewers all around the world.”

Pokimane’s suggestion already exists in one form: Amazon Prime has a “Watch Parties” option that allows people to view movies and TV shows from the company’s back catalog. However, with new premieres and shows on the table, Pokimane would want to see even more alternatives.

The Twitch streamer said it was “a lot to ask,” but she believes collaborations will happen in the future as the Amazon-owned service grows in popularity. Pokimane’s fans, on the other hand, were less convinced, with many pointing out that DMCA strikes would continue. “Stop laughing at my dreams! I can dream, you know?”

Pokimane, who was suspended for viewing Avatar: The Last Airbender for the first time on-stream late last week, unintentionally became a leading figurehead for Twitch’s current “react meta.” The Twitch star stated that she was not surprised by her suspension and that she does not believe it is “unfair” – rather, it was something she expected sooner rather than later. That said, it’s precisely the predicament she’s seeking to avoid by partnering with Twitch and film studios.
