Pokimane Voices Thoughts About DMCA Strikes

For streaming Avatar: Last Air Bender to thousands of viewers, Imane “Pokimane” Anys received her first-ever Twitch ban. Pokimane, on the other hand, is unconcerned about the outcome.

Pokimane turned to Twitter to discuss the topic with her fans in greater detail. The ban was not harsh, according to Pokimane, and was “inevitable.” The popular Twitch personality said that she would explain the suspension on Monday, assuring fans that she is “not surprised.”

To be clear, I am not surprised and do not believe this is unjust. During this react meta, I believe it was inevitable that publishers would take action against me or someone else.

Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker, a political streamer, has lamented the death of the MasterChef meta owing to a copyright takedown notice from The Fox Network since Pokimane’s ban.

Felix “xQc” Lenyel, on the other hand, is undeterred and feels that the controversial meta can continue, at least for him, thanks to a covert conversation with network workers.

However, Pokimane’s remark clarifies why many streamers have been frustrated by the continuing meta. The fact that Pokimane is well aware that she is antagonizing Twitch is a source of concern for many in the streaming community. Many believe that the meta is purposefully pushing the limits of Twitch, which will eventually lead to the streaming platform reacting with something catastrophic, such as another “adpocalypse.”
