Pokimane Responds To Trolls

Pokimane has had enough of sexist harassment. While JiDion’s hate raid sparked a lot of trolling and abuse, Pokimane has regrettably been subjected to sexist bullying on a regular basis. Pokimane has been subjected to a lot of harassment in the past because of a stream she did without makeup.

Pokimane chatted with her fans as usual throughout the 2018 stream, but without any makeup. During the stream, she revealed that she never goes out without her hair and cosmetics done. Pokimane demonstrated how she applies cosmetics for a Twitch stream during the stream. 

Despite its innocuous nature, the stream was screenshotted and used to mock Pokimane’s appearance on social media. Even though the no-makeup stream happened years ago, Pokimane has been criticized for her natural appearance ever since. Pokimane told her followers after the JiDion hate raid that she was being attacked by the now-banned Twitch streamer and his fans. JiDion had even changed his profile picture to a no make up image of Pokimane.

Pokimane tweeted a 2D version of herself on February 11th. Some users reacted by posting a screenshot of Pokimane without makeup, implying that the 2D artwork was inaccurate to Pokimane’s genuine appearance. 

Pokimane is no stranger to this. She’s talked about how female streamers are constantly assessed based on their beauty, and she’s implied that some people believe female content creators are only watched because followers want to have sex with them. Pokimane was plainly irritated by the persecution she was receiving because of her natural appearance, and she eventually responded to the spamming screenshot. 

Pokimane posted the photograph with a vitriolic line of text earlier today writing;  “this face makes more money than you’ll ever see in your life”.

Pokimane was praised for bringing attention to the image and sticking up for herself. Others, on the other hand, questioned her decision to bring up her money during the discussion, believing it to be impolite. While there were various reactions to Pokimane’s speech, the majority of the streaming community has remained supportive of her during this recent round of sexist harassment. Male broadcasters, according to a number of big-name streamers, would never endure this kind of toxicity and abuse because of their appearance.
