Pokimane Falls Into Depression

After getting hate raided by fellow streamer Jidion in January, Twitch star Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys stated that she “fell into a depression.”

Pokimane was forced to end her Twitch live early on January 13 after being the target of a Jidion-led hate raid. Jidion’s fans bombarded her chat with insulting messages and even went after Pokimane’s viewers, saying that her own fans had been abused severely. The event generated a discussion on how women streamers are treated, as well as a barrage of extra criticism directed towards Pokimane on social media.

Anys came up on how the hate raid drama affected her mental health on February 15, over a month after it occurred, stating that she had fallen into a depression as a result of it. During a Twitch stream, she claimed, “When all the Jidion online hate stuff happened, bruh… I lowkey fell into a depression,”

Pokimane then used an app to display her fans her daily step counts, which she had accumulated over the course of the day.

In December, she took roughly 8,000 steps per day on average, but after the hate raid in January, she took significantly fewer steps. “The way in which my steps perfectly reflect my mental health is insane,” she said. Not only that, but Pokimane also responded to a troll who questioned. She said after she revealed her ordeal, “Do you want a f**king medal for walking? Do you want a f**king medal for being a f**king a**hole in someone’s chat? They only cost like $20. Send me the addy, I got you!”

Fortunately, Pokimane appears to be on her feet again. She and Jidion have even reconciled, with the two hinting at an upcoming collaboration earlier this month.
