PewDiePie Suspected Of Trying To Dodge Tax With Offshore Account

Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, most commonly known online as PewDiePie is a popular youtuber comedian, vlogger, gamer, and co-founder of Tsuki Market along with his wife, Marzia. He has now gained over 108 million subscribers on his youtube channel making him one of the most subscribed-to individual creators on the platform. He is Swedish who has resided in Brighton, England and is the director of the UK-based PewDie UK.

However, according to a report from the Input Mag, Andreas Menelaou and Kseniia Milevska who are the two new directors, they have provided a correspondence address on PewDie UK Ltd.  which is their own company’s base, Andreas Menelaou LLC in Nicosia, Cyprus. One tax expert believes the appointments of Menelaou and Milevska could be an attempt to reduce PewDiePie’s tax bill in the UK.

Tax expert Nimesh Shah, CEO of Blick Rothenberg stated; “From a tax perspective, what I think they’re trying to do is they’re trying to migrate this UK company to Cyprus. If the decisions, the overall management, and strategic decisions are conducted outside the UK, you can migrate that company outside the UK for tax purposes, and therefore the UK will let go of it and its corporation tax.” It’s common for those earning a certain amount of money to register their companies in offshore accounts so as to reduce tax payments.
