PewDiePie Slams New React Meta

The age of the hot tub meta has passed us by. We made it through the ASMR onslaught. Thankfully, we were able to keep Amouranth’s yoga pants Twister meta from taking off. In comparison, streamers viewing TV shows with their viewers don’t seem so bad, but the innocent Twitch audience are no longer the ones who have to be concerned.

It’s not rocket science to figure out that watching a complete episode on a streaming site will result in a copyright strike. It’s not even a question of if; it’s a question of when. Big streamers have already discovered this, with many incurring bans and suspensions as a result.

During his stream on January 11th, YouTuber Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg expressed his thoughts on the subject, questioning why creators are putting their channels at risk by streaming plainly copyrighted content. “Oh, you watched Avatar: The Last Airbender on Twitch? See that’s a lie because no one would be dumb enough to do that,” he said sarcastically, before staring off into space to the side of his camera and eventually cracking up.

Despite the fact that he didn’t identify anyone, it’s clear that the creator was referring to one of the platform’s most well-known members, Imane “Pokimane” Anys, who was suspended for 48 hours over the weekend after watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. His remark was not subtle.

Disguised Toast, who is temporarily banned after watching the anime series Death Note on Twitch, is one of the most recent victims of the feared copyright strike. Despite the fact that Pokimane was only suspended for a few days, it now appears that Disguised Toast will be removed off the site for an entire month, based on his tweet dated January 11th. Despite the bans, the TV watching meta does not appear to be slowing down, however it might be shut down forcibly if copyright holders truly clamp down.
