OTK Launches Mad Mushroom

Another content company is now in the business of offering players brand-new games.

This time, OTK is responsible as the gaming and media collective today unveiled the launch of Mad Mushroom, a fresh game publishing company. At OTK’s 2023 Games Expo, which was prominently located in the middle of Summer Game Fest, the announcement was made. By providing players with a direct, genuine pathway to tiny studio releases, Mad Mushroom aspires to “deliver a diverse portfolio of high-quality indie games across genres,” according to OTK.

Mad Mushroom is not trying to make the next great AAA game, unlike endeavors like 100 Thieves or Dr Disrespect. Instead, the publishing company will have a narrower focus, looking to create independent titles that will become cult hits and streaming smashes akin to Among Us and Dark and Darker. The success of the aforementioned games is at least partially credited to OTK in their press release, and they intend to keep “leveraging” the popularity of their combined streaming network and the larger roster represented by Mythic Talent to assist small studio games in quickly and effectively reaching a large audience.

OTK CEO Tips Out says; “Mad Mushroom is a natural next step for us at OTK. We can showcase these games and studios to millions of gamers from a single stream, giving them immediate exposure and hopefully long-term success.”

In this regard, Mad Mushroom resembles Bigmode, the independent publishing company founded by YouTuber Dunkey, more so than development initiatives managed by content creators or esports organizations. The OTK Games Expo, another platform used by the streaming collective to promote indie games by tiny studios, is a natural progression of the new publishing company.

The success of the games Mad Mushroom publishes and OTK’s respective content outlets will heavily depend on how much fun those games are to stream and how many new players Mad Mushroom can attract by showcasing them live, so their next endeavor will be more hands-on.
