NICKMERCS VODs & Clips Deleted

American popular Twitch Streamer, YouTuber, and Co-Owner for FaZe Clan Nick Kolcheff AKA NICKMERCS recently deleted all of his VODs and clips as DMCA strikes roll out.

Streaming platform Twitch revealed last May 28th that they had received 1,000 individual claims for DMCA strikes against its streamers and content creators surrounding clips and VODs in which copyrights were played.

Twitch explained that they are trying to find a solution by working with music labels.

NICKMERCS responded by deleting all of his VODs and clips. He took some time to address the situation and explained that Twitch isn’t to blame but said that the DMCA debacle is a mess. Many of his fans were disappointed and saddened by the deletion of such beloved content but he made it clear that he himself is also saddened but explained that it was okay and that he understands why it has to be done.

The DMCA situation is about the artists’ music record labels wanting to be paid for using it knowing how profitable Twitch and its users have become in recent years.

NICKMERCS elaborated during his stream on May 28th that the backlash against DMCA strikes is all about the streamers are providing a free exposure and said that the artists behind every song are getting paid when people are listening to their music and typically when a person want to play a song, they have to pay.

He seems to be aware of the situation and many are impressed by his understanding and not for blaming Twitch or the music industry for the situation. He even seems to be open to all alternatives and teased that maybe he should have his own label and call it MFAM label.

It is still unclear how long these strikes will last but as of now, all of NICKMERCS VODs and clips will still remain deleted.
