New World Is Banning Streamers

Following New World’s glitches, Amazon began banning cheaters and exploiters, including popular and well-known streamers.

New World was plagued by a few glitches and issues that were ruining the experience of some players after a very successful first few days in which the game was played so much that servers were full. More glitches appeared in the following weeks, even after Amazon began patching the majority of them on a regular basis, fueling dissatisfaction with the game.

Despite this, New World players have found ways to counteract the negative sentiment with some positivity, such as starting a trend of sharing creative leveling methods.

Amazon also disabled all forms of trading in New World over the last few days to prevent Gold duping, which affected one-on-one trades and trading posts. Following the release of a patch, the developer was finally able to begin issuing a slew of bans to all players who cheated, whether by duplicating Gold and materials or profiting from other known flaws.

According to Amazon, over 1,000 players were banned from New World as a result of this ban wave.Of course, some bans were overturned by players who didn’t actually cheat, but Amazon was thorough enough to banNew World streamers who did break the ToS and cheated.

A Reddit user by the name of GyroMachinist shared a video of Twitch Partner Omnikevfka ignoring New World moderators’ warnings and continuing to farm a dungeon boss on repeat using the so-called Genesis Exploit. For the offense, the streamer was eventually banned for seven days, and on-stream refused to listen to anyone in the chat telling him not to exploit the dungeon because it was a banned behavior.

SOLIDFPS was banned for abusing the game’s same exploit as Omnikevfka, but also exploiting the animation to cancel the said glitch to deal insane damage with a Life Staff and a Fire Staff. He was banned after purposefully ignoring all messages intended to warn against exploitation and then shared an apology on Twitter.

Following the incident, Amazon reintroduced New World’s trading posts, as well as a statement from the developer stating that any offense against the game will not be tolerated. Several players were pleased to learn that Amazon is not afraid to ban anyone involved with exploits and cheats, including popular streamers, as a result of the developer’s actions.

New World is also now available on PC.
