Jensen Takes Year Off Competing In LCS 2022

As rumors of the roster and even mentions of retirement have started to gain traction, Team Liquid mid laner Nicolaj Jensen has hinted at a possible year off from competing in League of Legends in 2022.

Despite having started his career in Europe, Jensen has become one of the most prominent players in the North American LCS, with long stints on Cloud9 and, most recently, Team Liquid.

The Dane has won several LCS titles and has become a Worlds regular, achieving one of NA’s best results in a top-four finish at the global event in 2018. Despite his achievements over the years, his situation appears to be particularly dire as the LCS 2022 season approaches.

Last November 4th, it was reported that Team Liquid was considering signing TSM veteran Bjergsen and Rogue’s Hans Sama, while also shopping Jensen to other teams.

Jensen’s time with Team Liquid might not last that long, despite signing a contract extension in 2020 that keeps him with the team until 2023, as he explained during a November 7th Twitch stream. He responded to a viewer’s question about retirement by saying that he doesn’t plan on retiring, but there is a possibility that he won’t be playing next year and added that they’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Jensen’s fans were clearly upset that he wouldn’t be competing in the LCS next year, with some claiming that the league “won’t be the same” without him.

However, anything can happen in the world of esports on any given day, so don’t give up hope of seeing Jensen competing at the top in 2022, even if things are looking bleak now.
