Instagram Launches Creator Subscriptions

The only way for Instagram users to make money on the platform is to find sponsors on their own, meaning that those who aren’t actively looking for sponsors will receive less pay, if any at all. This contrasts with other platforms such as YouTube and streaming platform Twitch where creators can place ads and earn money.

Instagram, on the other hand, appears to be preparing to launch a new feature for creators in the form of subscriptions. The company had previously stated that they would be exploring the idea of creator-based subscriptions earlier this year.

Instagram could be launching monthly subscriptions ranging from $0.99 to $4.99, and at the same time, they appear to be developing Instagram badges that users can buy to show support for livestreamers, similar to how Twitch users tip their favorite streamers.

There’s no word on when this new feature will be available, but it could be something to look forward to if you’re looking for another platform to monetize your work. Plus, Instagram is presumably getting a cut of these purchases and subscriptions, so it’s yet another revenue stream for the platform.
