ImperialHal Pulls Off An Apex Legends Clutch

TSM Apex Legends player Phillip Dosen AKA ‘ImperialHal’ recently came up with an absolutely brilliant play to secure a win for his team in the final ALGS game of Round 3, leaving fans and fellow players stunned.

With each Apex Legends character having their own unique abilities, there’s plenty of room in the game for some brilliant outplays and strategies. When you combine Caustic and Horizon, for example, you can create a deadly gas trap that is nearly impossible to escape.

Even at the casual level, there are some ridiculous legends combos, but at the professional level, each tournament is littered with countless brilliant outplays.

The majority of them revolve around Wraith, with players using her portal to ‘kidnap’ unsuspecting enemies and hand them over to their waiting teammates, who then kill them. Her portal, on the other hand, can be used in a variety of ways, as ImperialHal demonstrated in one of the best clutch ups the ALGS has ever seen.

ImperialHal’s stroke of brilliance came in the third week of the North American ALGS pro league, after his TSM team had struggled to score meaningful points in their first two games, finishing outside the top ten. They did, however, come back late.

The TSM squad was in position to win the final game after finishing fourth in the penultimate game of the day, but Hal was alone against two different squads. Before taking to the high ground, he hid for a few moments and watched as the two enemy squads got tangled up in a fight.

Rather than go for the kill, Hal let them fight it out before mowing down a Valkyrie who had gone looking for him. The circle closed in on him after that, but he used Wraith’s ultimate to sneak into the zone and avoid being hit. The final enemy fell as the timer on his ability ran out, giving him and his squad the victory.

Hal’s stroke of brilliance wowed the event casters, viewers, and fellow players, with some wondering how he managed to keep his cool in such a tense situation.

We’ll no doubt see more brilliant plays as the ALGS progresses, but Hal took us back to the early days of Apex with this one.
