HasanAbi Claims Twitch Warned Him

Popular Twitch streamer Hasan Piker aka HasanAbi claims he was warned by Twitch to stop promoting VPNs and ad blockers that skip his hourly ad breaks.

Every streamer must run advertisements during their broadcast, and viewers can avoid this by subscribing to their channel or purchasing a Twitch Turbo subscription.

Hasan responded to the continual backlash he receives over the 60-second ad breaks he plays hourly on his channel on October 8, claiming that he was forced to accept a new contract that required him to broadcast regular ads or risk losing his partnership status.

Hasan has now stated that Twitch has instructed him to cease promoting ad-blockers and VPNs, which allow viewers to bypass his ads entirely without paying the subscription cost.

During one of his recent live broadcasts on October 14th, he stated that Twitch had warned him to cease mentioning techniques for viewers to skip ads on his channel. Before running the ad, Hasan said: “If you’d like to enjoy this broadcast, in an ad-free experience, there are some things you can do. Some which I can say, some which I’ve been warned not to say. You can, for example, subscribe with a $5 subscription. You can subscribe with a free subscription if you have Twitch Prime that is. You can also do some other stuff, that I can’t say anymore.”

Hasan is unable to refer to “stuff” such as VPNs or ad-blockers, which will prevent the 60-second ad from playing and interrupting the broadcast.

Later in the show, Hasan pretended not to know what an ad-block is and remarked, “Anyway, here’s an ad-break before I forget. Why can’t you say ad-block? I don’t know what that is.”
