Gen.G Content Creator Ryujehong Under Fire

Ryu Je-hong aka ryujehong is a South Korean professional Overwatch player and a former player for the Vancouver Titans of the Overwatch League. He is most famous for his performances on the hero Ana, a sniper wielding hero on which Ryu has displayed high accuracy. He was one of the most popular players in OWL before stepping away from the competitive scene after the Vancouver Titans nuked their roster back in May 2020.

Back on January 11th, Ryujehong joined the Gen.G organization as a content creator, however, after a few days of being in their organization, he was suspended because of sexist comments he made on stream that quickly caught the attention of social media. During his January 16th live broadcast, he was streaming together with a female streamer named Haegi and during the stream, ryujehong reportedly made a number of sexist comments towards her.

Because of this, the Gen.G’s Chief Operating Officer Arnold Hur announced on January 19th that they will be suspending Ryujehong indefinitely, as they wrote in their statement; “I’m personally very disappointed in the language used during the stream by Jehong. He was wrong, and I find it uncharacteristic of the person I knew who has always been a considerate, kind-hearted teammate, As such, we have suspended all of Jehong’s team-related activities indefinitely.”

Even the VOD has now been deleted, which some fans quickly translated what ryujehong had said into english and it was kicking off a storm on social media.
