Donald Trump Twitch Suspension Is ‘Indefinite’

The Twitch streaming platform recently made an announcement that the U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s Twitch channel is now banned from the platform. It was the second time that Trump’s Twitch channel has been banned in less than a year.

The Twitch’s spokesperson released a statement on January 7th stating; “In light of yesterday’s shocking attack on the Capitol, we have disabled President Trump’s Twitch channel. Given the current extraordinary circumstances and the President’s incendiary rhetoric, we believe this to be a necessary step to protect our community and to prevent Twitch from being used to incite further violence.”

Weeks ago, Twitch also announced that it was suspending Trump’s channel indefinitely. As of now, Trump’s Twitch channel suspension has been updated and will be banned outright.

Trump’s channel was previously used to broadcast a number of his rallies but it was banned for two weeks due to “hateful conduct,” which included one of the rallies where he spoke. Trump has been banned from all social media platforms and the reason is that it is his speech that incited a riot in the U.S. Capitol. Twitch has released a statement about Trump’s permanent ban from the platform. The company is still calling it an “indefinite suspension.”
