Chelsea Manning Jokingly Reaches Out To xQc

Chelsea Manning, who has been barred from entering Canada after leaking classified US information to Wikileaks, sending a joke email to xQc.

Some of today’s most well-known gaming personalities, as well as some intriguing gaming statistics, are from Canada. While the Nintendo Switch may be well-known for being Canada’s best-selling console for more than two years, it’s a different story when it comes to politics.

Moving to Canada to get away from America is a common joke among Americans, but it is a reality Chelsea Manning is attempting to live out. Chelsea Manning, on the other hand, is well-known as a criminal and whistleblower for leaking US military secrets to WikiLeaks. In a recent tweet, she sought advice from an unusual figure: popular content creator on Twitch Felix Lengyel aka xQc.

Chelsea Manning’s infamous leak resulted in her serving time in prison, which was commuted by President Barack Obama. She now wishes to leave Canada, but due to her criminal history, she is effectively barred from doing so. The reasoning is not unique; Canada routinely turns away those with criminal records at the border; however, Manning’s case, in which she leaked classified information about US military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, is far from typical. Her tweet to xQc asks how he gets around it and is most likely a reference to xQc’s five bans from Twitch.

The tweet is almost certainly intended as a joke, and given the gravity of her situation, it works quite well. XQc has been banned from Twitch for a variety of reasons, many of which are strange. While the reason for his most recent ban has yet to be revealed, the one before it was because xQc watched the Olympics live on stream. His first three, on the other hand, are for less appetizing but still amusing reasons.

Given xQc’s recent problems, it’s also possible that the tweet is in semi-solidarity with him. People continue to break into xQc’s home, and it has become an ongoing issue that has forced him to leave. Manning, likewise, may soon be unable to return to a country, let alone her home, where she can live in peace.

Manning may seem strange for making a joke about xQc, but he is a part of the gaming community, with semi-regular gaming streams. xQc has not responded as of this article and may not respond at all. Still, it’s interesting that xQc’s being caught on camera laughing at a Walmart cashier isn’t the strangest thing about him. The hearing for Manning’s admissibility is set for October 7th.
