Apex Legends Devs Responsive to Demands

The Apex Legends Operation Health campaign appears to be over before it even started, with a Respawn developer admitting that while they love the idea in theory, it’s simply not viable for the battle royale.

Players have come up with a Rainbow Six-inspired proposal in the midst of persistent Apex Legends server difficulties, a cacophony of bugs, glitches, and game crashes. The plan is for Respawn to spend an entire season correcting errors, Legend inconsistencies, and infamous Apex Legends problems, among other things. Rainbow Six Siege did the same in 2017, two years after its release, in an attempt to regain control of their stuttering game engine and laggy servers.

In theory, the idea is sound, especially after this week’s issues. However, Respawn is less convinced, and one Apex Legends tech developer has already put cold water on the growing “Operation Health” demands.

On September 20, Respawn’s dev RobotHavGunz was on Reddit discussing the newest Apex Legends server troubles when he was asked about “Operation Health” and whether it was anything the developers were exploring. His response was clear and it’s not on Respawn’s radar, for now.

Here’s what he stated; “The problem with something like an Operation Health [season] is that it’s not really reflective of how game development works. There’s also the separate-but-very-much-related issue of, people might say that’s what they want, but that doesn’t actually it’s what they want. I don’t really have much of an insight there. Live Operation development bears a fair amount of resemblance to just-in-time manufacturing. There are a ton of dependencies, cross-collaboration.”

So, Respawn’s statement effectively puts an end to the “Operation Health” plans before they ever reach a symphony among Apex Legends players. But this doesn’t mean that Respawn isn’t working on Apex Legends updates, game improvements, and server upgrades. The devs are already working on Season 10 issues, which are scheduled to be resolved by September 22nd, and are always looking for ways to improve their battle royale.
