Andrew Tang Talks About Online Revival Of Chess

The game of “Chess” has experienced a real revival on the Internet and the media. From Netflix’s Queen’s Gambit to big eSports organizations, chess grandmasters say that it’s the time to see the classic tactical game evolve online.

TSM signed Hikaru Nakamura. CLG has Qiyu Zhou. It was the first eSports organization that signed a chess grandmaster.

Cloud9 has its own chess guru, Mr. Andrew Tang. He recently interviewed Ginx about the strength of chess.

Mr. Tang is not just a normal streamer now; he had 30,000 followers on Twitch and 15,000+ on YouTube. He is also a top chess streamer. He started playing chess at the age of 4. It makes sense for the Cloud9 organization to want him.

As he said to Ginx, he aims to introduce chess to a broader audience by signing with eSports organizations. Andrew Tang stated; “Wearing my Cloud9 jersey to tournaments is definitely going to stick out. I have no idea how older people will react. Hopefully I can bring more exposure to them, and to young kids at the tournaments.”

Despite that, they are happy to see more eSports organizations seeing the potential in Chess. It is a really enticing game, and maybe more eSports competitions will feature Bullet Chess fights in the future.
