Amazon Cost Of Prime Membership

According to Amazon’s latest quarterly earnings report, the corporation is raising the price of Prime membership for the first time in four years.

The yearly cost of a Prime subscription will increase from $119 to $139, with monthly costs increasing from $12.99 to $14.99. The new, higher pricing will take effect on February 18th, and subscribers will notice the difference after their first renewal on March 25th.

Along with the overall price rise, Prime Gaming, the premium Twitch subscription that provides customers bonus exclusive content, will also increase in price. The service is linked to Amazon Prime membership, and these increased rates will be applied to the general service.

The abrupt price rise has been attributed to Amazon’s recent $1 billion deal to stream Thursday Night Football. In addition, Amazon has greatly expanded its video library, which now includes The Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, and the most recent season of The Boys. Lord of the Rings, Amazon’s most recent acquisition, is said to have cost about $465 million to produce.

Aside from the platform’s growing library of content, Amazon maintains that the company’s same-day delivery service, pharmacy delivery, and music business all played a factor in the decision to raise the price.

According to IGN, Amazon announced that over 200 million users had streamed its accessible episodes and movies from its huge catalog. Amazon is still one of the most profitable streaming platforms and companies in the world, with approximately $147 billion in net revenue and $14.3 billion in net income.
