YouTuber IShowSpeed Permanently Banned
IShowSpeed, a YouTube star with nearly 3 million subscribers, has been banned from Twitch following a sexist outburst on Adin Ross’ stream. The star will not be permitted to appear on anyone else’s broadcasts while he is not streaming on the platform.
IShowSpeed surged to the top of the YouTube charts in 2021, jumping from a few thousand to 3 million subscribers in a single year. He’s a Twitch variety streamer who’s become known for his “way to do things” which has landed him in hot water after he had a misogynistic outburst while watching Adin Ross’ stream.
IShowSpeed was paired with influencer Ash Kash to go on a date on Ross’ show “E-Date.” Things quickly spiraled out of control, with IShowSpeed apparently threatening her with sexual assault.
In one clip, Speed asked Ash “say if we were the last two people on Earth, and we had to reproduce to make the world continue, would you reproduce with me?” In response to this, Ash stated; “No, because that would mean our kids would have to intertwine,” Speed then further replied saying; “who [is] gonna stop me? You’re not stopping me.”
After this, Adin Ross jumped in, but Twitch was not pleased by his guest’s remarks. IShowSpeed received a permanent ban from Twitch for “sexual coercion or intimidation.” After a successful appeal, the suspension will be lifted. The show’s VOD has also been deleted from Adin Ross’ YouTube channel.
According to Twitch’s community guidelines; “sexual assault…or content that encourages or promotes it”. Serious offences, the platform states, “may be reported to law enforcement.”
The YouTube star responded to the ban on Twitter with a simple one-word response: “Bye.”
