Valkyrae Urges Streamers to Move Over to YouTube

After a big data leak from the Amazon-owned platform revealed vulnerabilities in the website’s code, as well as how much every streamer has earned over the previous two years, Youtuber Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter has urged other Twitch stars to switch to Youtube.

The ideas from the co-founder of 100 Thieves come less than 24 hours after Twitch was hit by a massive data breach on October 6th that exposed streamer earnings, account information, forthcoming Amazon projects, and more.

Data leaks have prompted a range of reactions. Many have already turned on streamers like Hasan and Sykkuno for how much they’re purportedly pulling in, while Asmongold denied the earnings numbers. Even Dr Disrespect, who was banned from Twitch more than a year ago, was included, but despite the claim that he simply “doesn’t care.”

However, Youtuber Valkyrae has also issued her concerns over the drama as she argued that the leak is a solid reason to defect to her “safe little island” on YouTube, far away from all the uncontrollable data breaches and Twitch leaks.

Here’s what she stated; “Pretty crazy day today. You know, YouTube is looking to sign more streamers [at the moment]. Yeah, they are. The streaming side of the platform has a lot of room to grow. They’re working on and focusing on it. I’m happy here and seeing how hungry they are is exciting. I’m not biased or whatever, but YouTube doesn’t have ads, and we’re currently working on a lot of other things. Plus, right now, we haven’t gotten breached and had all of our code leaked. I don’t know, it all sounds kind of scary over there. I like my island over here. It’s really nice.”

Despite switching to YouTube in 2020 — a decision she now encourages others to make as well – Valkyrae was one of the 10,000 Twitch stars whose earnings were exposed. The released data for the 100 Thieves co-owner is a little slimmer than most because she traded purple for red in a lucrative exclusive deal more than 18 months ago; the massive Amazon code leak revealed she made $96,025,90 between August 2019 and her departure date on January 12th.
