Twitch appears to be testing some new subscription features, with a new “Update Your Subscription” function surfacing for a restricted group of users. This feature, according to stream reporter Zach Bussey and numerous users in a test group, will allow users to change the duration or tier of a channel subscription via the Your Subscription tab without first canceling a current subscription.

The ability to flexibly adjust a sub’s duration is the key benefit of this new functionality. With a Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 subscription, viewers can now support their favorite creators without having to worry about needing to cancel their subscription before the next renewal date. They can instead sub at their chosen tier and then upgrade or downgrade as needed before the next payment is due. Some users have even reported that the multi-month subscription discount, which offers a 10% or 15% discount when purchasing three or six-month subscriptions in advance, appears to be available indefinitely following this upgrade.

Users would be able to pay for their selected subscription term in advance and keep their discounts if they decide to keep a multi-month Twitch subscription.

This wasn’t always the case, as users would have to cancel a subscription at the end of a multi-month contract only to resub and obtain the discount again, similar to tier upgrades.
