Twitch New Mod Love Competition

Twitch has announced its first-ever ‘Mod Love’ sweepstakes, a competition in which Twitch Partners or Affiliate streamers nominate mods. Two tickets to the San Diego TwitchCon are the grand prize, and 100 other winners will receive $250 in Twitch gift cards.

Streamers who are associates or affiliates can nominate one moderator from their channel. Streamers will need to produce a fast video that meets some competition criteria to make their mod eligible. The video should include an explanation of why mods are important in general, what the nominated mod has done for the streamer’s community, and the streamer speaking personally to the nominated mod. 

The mod is entered into the sweepstakes after recording the video. A mod will be chosen at random to receive two three-day passes to San Diego TwitchCon and two $2,500 paid trips—one for the mod and one for the creator. From October 7 – 9, TwitchCon San Diego will take place. In addition, 100 more mods will be picked for the secondary reward of $250 in Twitch gift cards. 

Streamers can suggest their favorite mods for the competition until March 24th. Twitch will announce the winner in a special video to commemorate Mod Appreciation Day on March 31st. Twitch promises further rewards for moderators in addition to the winners of these sweepstakes. Moderators are an important component of every streamer’s community, and Twitch is recognizing their “crucial role,” as described in the official post. As the second annual Mod Appreciation Day approaches, it appears that these members of the community will be given even more attention.
