Twitch Boost Feature Goes Live

Twitch’s paid “Boost this stream” experiment is said to be in the works.

Twitch had started an experimental project to give select creators a chance to be noticed, according to streaming writer Zach Bussey, who posted about it on Twitter recently. Twitch has been working on a version of the similar “Boost this stream” feature that included viewers donating channel points prior to this experiment. The platform’s decision to make the feature pay-to-play garnered criticism from streamers such as xQc and others on social media.

Along with announcing the launch of the Boost function, Bussey shared a screenshot of how a campaign appears to viewers. Only U.S. viewers can donate to boost a channel, and they are limited to a maximum of $500 per boost, according to the image.

This feature is not available to all streamers, and those who do have it are unable to utilize it at their leisure. Twitch starts the “Boost this stream” campaign on a participating streamer’s channel, and the streamer and their viewers are notified.

This experiment has already been activated, barely over a week after Bussey claimed that the platform had postponed the test until “sometime in November.”
