Twitch And YouTube Sub Price Change Announced

Twitch streamers are urging that the company emulate a popular YouTube feature that allows creators to customize the cost of their paid subscriptions and establish their own price.

The fight of the live streaming platforms continues as more and more streamers sign exclusive deals and go to YouTube Gaming while Twitch continues to make adjustments that dissuade their creators. Creators are becoming increasingly encouraged to jump ship as YouTube incrementally adds features to its live streaming platforms. Others, on the other hand, are hopeful Twitch will take a page from their competitor’s book. Twitch streamers are now proposing that Amazon’s platform duplicate a feature that allows creators to adjust the price of their premium subscription.

Ludwig Ahgren, who moved to YouTube from Twitch in late 2021, disclosed that his new premium subscription price is simply $1 in a tweet on May 26. Ludwig tweeted out; “If you didn’t know, I changed my sub price to $1,”

The tweet has subsequently received over 26k likes, attracting the attention of other Twitch streamers and watchers. Many of them started recommending that Twitch mimic YouTube’s feature. It’s quite doubtful that streamers will be able to adjust their membership pricing in the future, given the Amazon-owned platform’s projected income changes in the summer that will do more harm than good.
