TimTheTatman Hacked Warzone Lobby
Recently, popular streamer Timothy Betar aka TimTheTataman, entered a Warzone lobby while streaming, only to discover that it was not your typical lobby. He witnessed his level 8 Gorenko Anti-Tank rifle level all the way up to 70 after getting a single kill with it. He appeared to have ended up inside a hacked Warzone lobby with insta-leveling guns. He stated on Twitter, linking to a 1-minute clip showing the hacked lobby at work; “I think we have a problem @CallofDuty.”
In the clip of the stream, Tim stated; “Wait, it just said my gun went up to level 70 with one kill. Homie, my gun is level 70. I just shot one guy and my gun went from level 8 to level 70, I swear to god. . . I have everything unlocked with one kill.”
The hacked lobby is similar to previous COD hacks, which date back to Modern Warfare 2, when some lobbies were hacked by players to provide massive XP increases to those who competed in them. It also recalls a hack in Warzone earlier this year, in which Nick Mercs killed a hacker and received a quick level 1000 increase. Despite the fact that Tim’s lobby only appeared to level gun attachments to level 70, it is still a significant game hack.
It’s unclear whether this was done on purpose or as a result of a bug. In any event, the existence of these lobbies compromises the game’s fairness by allowing certain players to skip the leveling process on guns while others are forced to grind for hours or even days.
The discovery of the new hacked lobby comes amid a slew of Warzone bug reports. Players have expressed their dissatisfaction with the problems and new map Caldera added in the recent Pacific update, with some pro players, such as Aydan, claiming that they no longer enjoy the game.
Nick Mercs, one of Warzone’s previous top names, left the game earlier this year to play Apex Legends instead, citing his dissatisfaction with the game’s hackers. That was before the recent Pacific update, which broke a number of components of the game while also introducing an anti-cheat system for the first time in Warzone history. In a recent stream, Mercs advised gamers to consider abandoning Warzone totally, like he did, and instead join him in Apex Legends.
