During a sponsor read, Twitch streamer Sykkuno got a little too honest, making fun of fellow star xQc in the process, and resulting in an overall funny situation.

It’s nothing unusual for streamers to read advertisements during live broadcasts. This is merely another opportunity for these content creators to make a living, in addition to the traditional subscription or gift.

In some circumstances, you’ll see people like Tyler1, a popular League of Legends streamer, execute an immaculate ad read for a sponsored Twitch stream – but in others, you’ll see people like Sodapoppin flub one during The Game Awards.

Finally, this type of revenue is necessary for streamers to keep their lights on, and it can occasionally lead to some quite funny moments.

On December 30th, during a live stream, content creator Sykkuno struggled to get through an ad read near the beginning of his broadcast.

Sykkuno had to offer a statement to highlight the sponsorship, which this time was with prominent VPN service NordVPN, despite doing so to the best of his ability. The streamer ended up being so honest that he unwittingly called out his sponsor, stating that VPNs can sometimes make online games a touch sluggish.

After that, he talked about how VPNs can help with DDoS attacks, and he made a playful dig at xQc, a streamer who’s been the target of DDoS attacks in the past.

Sykkuno stated; “But, you know, it does protect you from DDoS attacks. You guys, why doesn’t X have this? He gets DDoS’ed like every other week.” Sykkuno then promptly altered his tune and made sure to use the VPN with his discount code.

With the passing of time, some streamers have become more creative with their ad reads, resulting in some amusing occasions.
