Summit1g Is Ruined By Cheaters And Snipers

Summit1g was taken aback when he learned that “cheating” was permitted in a Sea of Thieves event broadcast on Twitch and YouTube.

A Sea of Thieves tournament with a prize fund of $35,000 was organized on April 1 by BoomTV. Popular streamers like Dr Disrespect, ZLaner, and Jaryd ‘Summit1g’ Lazar competed in the epic competition. However, the 34-year-old Twitch star was taken aback when he learned that contestants were reportedly “cheating,” with some players apparently using stream sniping to get an advantage over their opponents.

Summit1g said on YouTube in response to the scandal; “I personally think it’s cheating. I’ve never seen a tournament that would just allow open information to be shared through all of the streams.”

He then read aloud screenshots he’d received of people utilizing their chats to track each contestant’s every move during the competition.

Summit1g was floored when a fellow contestant donated to his stream and wrote, “Hey dude, we wanted ghosting/sniping to be illegal. After asking organizers they said it was another element to add to the event. I assumed all the crew knew.”

Summit responded to the message, exclaiming, “I won’t let this slide. That’s not something a tournament organizer just lets go under the rug.” He then explained why he thought this unacceptable; “That’s a VERY IMPORTANT thing to say. Hey, stream sniping every other team is legal, or hey it’s not. It’s assumed that it’s illegal, so it’s not even talked about. THAT MAKES NO SENSE! That also supersedes Twitch.”

While he believes tournament organizers meant for streamers to see their chat talking about topics by accident, he criticizes the tournament for allowing players to form full-fledged stream sniping teams to gather intel on Discord.

He said; “But that doesn’t mean hey chat, go out there, the whole f**king brigade. The mod team. Give me all the information. Now I know that it wasn’t just one player, but the whole team.”

He didn’t know if it was the organizer’s fault or not, but he did say it was badly stated in either case. The streamer’s main criticism, on the other hand, appeared to be directed at players who exploited stream sniping.

Summit’s frustrations appeared to be shared by viewers, as many comments were critical of the tournament’s outcome.

Several players in the Sea of Thieves competition justified their tactics, alleging that they asked the tournament organizers to prohibit stream sniping and information sharing, but were granted permission.
