Streamer Maghla Reports Concerns

Barbara “Maghla,” a French Twitch streamer, has given a frightening story of how various online communities have taken advantage of her photos by photoshoping her into lewd images. 

The 28-year-old streamer, who has over 692K followers, posted a troubling message on her Twitter account about how her image has been shared online (across different platforms). She supplied numerous screenshots of incidents in which her image was “deep faked” into another person’s body, most often n*ked. 

Maghla, a Twitch streamer, has presented yet another example of internet bullying and harassment. It is no secret that being a woman on the internet, especially in a place with a sizable community, is difficult. The 28-year-old published a lengthy series of tweets describing his experiences with internet harassment, image appropriation gone wrong, and cyberbullying. She said; “I’m tired and it’s time for me to explain. I’ve been streaming for years and open my mouth about 10% max of the problem, because apparently you have to ignore it for it to pass.” 

She then continued to publish screenshots from numerous sites showing how her images had changed into filthy stuff. She posted a screenshot showing how Redditors had used her photos to create pornographic and sexually explicit content. She also gave examples of her photographs being used inappropriately on adult websites and claimed that users had been caught using obscene language including the “R-word.” 

Maghla offered her opinion on Discord servers as well. Added her: “There are discords dedicated to fake n*des and guys j*rking off to streamers with sharing of live screens + fake montages + s*x rp.”

She reminded her audience of the difficulties faced by female streamers on the platform as she ended her tirade. She has experienced similar traumatic events, as have other other broadcasters. Maghla is one of the few who has criticized it in public. She added: “what I’m going through, all the streamers are living it and we keep our mouths shut 24 hours a day because we also take “you got pierced by your body/because you’re a girl/you’re beautiful” while behind we take the content more on a daily basis that we would do without.”

The moderators and programmers of the aforementioned platform have not yet indicated if they will take any strict action in response to the flagrant and persistent misuse of photographs and information.
