Pokimane Will Not Be Doing Gambling Streams

Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys, a Twitch star, has stated that no amount of money, no matter how large, will convince her to undertake gambling streams.

The debate over whether it is ethical for influencers to take hefty sponsorship deals from online gambling sites continues to rage among streamers. Creators have been split over their return to Twitch after Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel declared that he would be integrating gambling adverts once again during his livestreams. Some have defended xQc’s choice, while others argue it encourages viewers to develop gambling addictions. Pokimane, a Twitch streamer, has reiterated her position that she would never accept a gambling sponsorship contract because she would be uncomfortable with how it would effect her audience.

Pokimane reacted on May 19th to Ludwig ‘Ludwig’ Ahgren’s admission that he had ‘no price’ for gaming streams because to his background with a crippling gambling addiction. Pokimane agreed with Ludwig and stated that she would not accept any sponsorship agreement, no matter how lucrative. She’s so adamant about it that she’d turn down a “$100 million per month” offer. 

Here’s what she stated; “Most people have a number. I’m really glad to say that Lud is ready to say he doesn’t have a price and same here. I don’t have a price.”

Pokimane claimed she would refuse any such contract because she would feel she was exploiting her fans, who might be throwing themselves into crushing debt to afford gambling bills. “If I’m making $5 million a month and know my viewers are losing $10 million, the guilt would eat me alive,” she explained. 

Pokimane’s remarks came after she slammed streamers who support the gambling meta, calling it “really f**king bad.” She did, however, claim that Twitch should be doing more to address the issue by outright prohibiting crypto gambling on the platform. The new Twitch meta is still dividing the community. Pokimane’s position on the topic, on the other hand, is crystal obvious.
