Pokimane Is Scammed

Twitch streamer Pokimane, recently disclosed how she fell for an elaborate, or should we say “stupid” scam in late 2019, in which she lost USD 24K to a former YouTube content manager who did “absolutely nothing” for three months.

Pokimane highlighted how the scammer, who she did not identify, was “so good” at making excuses and explanations for not performing any work in her Twitch Livestream on November 24th, and how it taught her to be more cautious in her business interactions. She stated; “I wish I could show you guys; this guy would write these MLA-formatted, big a** paragraphs upon things and things of what he was going to do. Like, it was the most convincing stuff I’d ever read or ever seen.”

Followingly, Pokimane explained that throughout their employment, if you could even call it that, the scammer provided “less than USD 200 worth of value in the entire first month.” The Twitch star then added that she was “dead a** his sugar momma.”

Pokimane then went on to say that she thought the scammer was collaborating with her other channel managers to improve the channel’s performance. This, however, was not the case. Despite having “abundance of content,” Pokimane recalls going “ten days without uploading a single video.”

After confronting the scammer about the absence of content, he sent Pokimane five paragraphs of a document that she swears wasn’t even written for her. Later in the stream, Pokimane said, “For real, this felt like a relationship where it took time for me to realise that I was getting played.”

Pokimane went on to say that if she gives someone USD 8K, she wants them to perform the job, but that she will give them the benefit of the doubt. Pokimane said she spent USD 24K for the scammer to do “absolutely nothing” towards the end of the third month, but that she had learned from her mistake.

Despite the fact that he has lost a large sum of money, Pokimane appears unconcerned. Indeed, one could argue that she is thankful, given that she is now much “more careful” in her commercial dealings.
