Pokimane Expresses Thoughts About Crypto Gambling Streams

Pokimane has claimed that she believes Twitch should cease allowing streamers to gamble for content on crypto exchange, even implying that people who do so agree with her.

Gambling streams have exploded in popularity on Twitch, causing a significant uproar among both streamers and viewers. While many people believe gambling streams should be banned entirely, others have come around to the notion, with people like Trainwreck and xQc showing massive numbers (both winning and losing) during live streams. They’ve been chastised regularly, and Trainwreck even plays a warning every time he wins, informing viewers that he’s down millions and advising them not to gamble.

While public opinion on gambling streams has shifted, there is still opposition from a handful of Twitch stars who believe it is harming the site. Pokimane is one of them, and he has advocated for tougher regulation of gambling streams on cryptocurrency websites. 

She said; “Twitch shouldn’t allow gambling streams on crypto websites at all, and I think even those who do it would agree. There are plenty of ways to do similar content (poker tourneys, slots/rng in games) that aren’t as legally ambiguous and morally corrupt.”

Companies have struck seven-figure deals with streamers like Trainwreck and Adin Ross to bet on their sites, and others are generating millions from their gambling streams. It remains to be seen whether Twitch reconsiders its stance on gambling content or changes its rules of service, but for the time being, the content appears to be fair game.
