PewDiePie Not Using His Own Music

Due to YouTube’s “backwards” copyright system, Felix ‘PewDiePie’ Kjellberg can no longer use his own music, including his hugely popular ‘B*tch Lasagna’ song.

PewDiePie discussed his own experience with YouTube’s copyright system after criticizing Japanese animation studio Toei Animation for allegedly issuing more than 150 copyright strikes against YouTuber Mark Fitzpatrick in a single day. He not only called the system “backwards,” but he also said that it has allowed a company to claim music on his behalf despite the fact that he has no affiliation with them. Worst of all, he stated that he can no longer use some of his own tracks.

PewDiePie stated; “I’ve had this problem recently where all my music got claimed.” He explained that if you click onto his B*tch Lasagna music video, it has been claimed by a company called RepostNetwork on his behalf.

He added; “Nah! What do you f**king mean? You can’t just say it’s on behalf of me. That’s not just stealing. That’s stealing and lying about it. I know I didn’t claim that. I didn’t tell anyone to do that.”

PewDiePie also mentioned that he put a part in the video description that said, “Feel free to use this track. It won’t be claimed.” He added that he did this because he wanted people to be able to do entertaining things with the song, which they can no longer do.

He also contrasted it to the fact that TikTok allows users to use tunes in their videos, which he regarded as a “positive” feature. He said that YouTube had rejected his argument over RepostNetwork’s claim, and that as a result, he no longer had the ability to use his own music in his videos.

It’s not the first time PewDiePie has spoken out against YouTube, the platform he’s been a part of for over a decade. He attacked YouTube for deleting the dislike count option in November 2021, stating, “If it ain’t broke, why fix it?”
